Women United, a new affinity group associated with United Way of Southern West Virginia, will launch on Monday, March 17th, 2025. Focused on building stronger communities, this group will be part of the powerful, global network within United Way, composed of more than 70,000 women leaders across more than 165 communities and six countries.
United Way of Southern West Virginia’s Women United will be a vibrant, diverse community of like-minded women leaders who contribute their passions, best ideas, and unique strengths to building a stronger southern West Virginia.
United Way’s Women United is the largest women’s philanthropy organization in the world. Since 2002, Women United has raised more than $2 billion to support the programs and initiatives led by United Way. Together they have focused on providing the building blocks for a better life and a stronger community – health, education, and financial security.
Local members of United Way’s Women United will be women leaders who donate at the Leader’s Club level of $250+ per year. They will be encouraged to join subcommittees to participate in planning and executing events and volunteer opportunities. Members will receive updates on networking and social opportunities, educational programs, and volunteer engagements.
United Way of Southern West Virginia is committed to improving the lives and futures of children and families in need by investing in health, education, and financial security. We are proud that contributions stay local and are invested in direct program activities. By partnering with a network of local organizations, United Way delivers critical services to our communities, connects individuals in crisis with needed resources through our 2-1-1 Information and Referral Hotline, and increases the power of local non-profits.
“Women are a dynamic force in our community and within philanthropy,” said Trena Dacal, Executive Director of United Way of Southern West Virginia. “Bringing this affinity group to southern West Virginia will make a difference in people’s lives in the community where we live, work, and raise our families. This is our opportunity as women to do more. We have the power to transform our community. Women leaders working together with the United Way will make a significant impact.”
